Nic Mueller, LMSW, M.Ed.

Psychotherapist
pronouns: they/them

Nic holds a Master of Education in Human Sexuality Studies and a Master of Social Work from Widener University.

Nic is licensed in Maryland and is able to offer telehealth sessions for clients physically located in the state of Maryland.  They also see clients in person in our Frederick office. They are supervised by Kate MacShane, LCSW-C.

Nic is a trans non-binary, fat, disabled, neurodivergent psychotherapist with a deep commitment to creating accessible, affirming, and trauma-informed spaces for healing. Nic specializes in working with individuals navigating disability & chronic illness, gender & sexuality exploration and diversity, neurodivergence, and the complexities of identity, intimacy, sex, and trauma.

Nic's practice is rooted in harm reduction, disability justice, gender-affirming care, and a belief in the inherent worth and wisdom each person carries. They approach therapy with curiosity, grace, compassion, occasional humor, and an understanding of the systemic barriers that impact mental health and sense of self. Their goal is to meet you where you are—with empathy, respect, and collaborative care.

Nic integrates somatic techniques, narrative and relational therapies, and holistic, culturally responsive approaches to help clients reconnect with their bodies, values, and agency. They strive to hold space for people who often feel like they’ve had to shrink themselves to fit, offering instead a place to expand, be witnessed, and feel empowered.

Nic welcomes LGBTQIA+ folks, disabled & chronically ill clients, survivors, folks living in fat and/or bigger bodies, those engaging in or curious about engaging in non-monogamy, those engaged in kink & BDSM communities, and anyone who has felt othered by traditional models of care. Nic works with individuals, couples, and poly dynamics.

As a sex therapist, Nic welcomes conversations around non-monogamy, polyamory, kink & BDSM, sexual concerns and dysfunction, intimacy, desire, and relationships in all their interwoven complexity.
