Eviva Kahne, LMSW

Eviva is a cisgender female, queer, white therapist who believes that everyone benefits from having a professional relationship that is focused on their mind and emotional well-being. Her experiences as a history major and disability rights community organizer shape her understanding of the inseparable connections between politics, culture, intergenerational trauma, and feelings around belonging, success and life satisfaction.

Eviva views therapy as  a unique relationship where you can be supported in exploring and understanding what is going on on a deeper level. Eviva strives to create a space where all of your thoughts and feelings are welcome, including the ones that feel scariest to look at and understand. Eviva believes that when therapy centers curiosity and authentic connection, it can also be a vulnerable, deeply rewarding and even playful experience.

Eviva provides both individual and relationship therapy. She practices psychodynamically, and incorporates narrative therapy into her work. Eviva takes a collaborative approach to therapy. She does not have the “answers” but instead brings ongoing curiosity and compassion to understand your experience from your perspective, and to accompany you in making meaningful connections around how past experiences show up in the present.

Eviva is motivated to collaboratively identify patterns or habits that no longer serve you, and that you'd like to release and heal from. She has also completed basic training in EMDR Basic Training with Deany Laliotis of the Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy, and is happy to explore using this modality with interested clients.

Eviva enjoys working with people who feel stuck, dissatisfied or disconnected in their relationships with family, partners, or with colleagues. She sees these painful experiences as healthy signals that you are longing for satisfaction, connection and expansiveness! Therapy with Eviva will honor these human desires, look closely at your relationships, and gently consider new ways of relating to your pain and staying connected to others.

Eviva will meet you where you are. Whether life has reached a breaking point, you’re looking for ongoing psychological support, or are motivated to cultivate a deeper relationship with all parts of yourself, therapy can provide a contained environment to support your mental health, and to heal and grow with intention.
